These rules are subject to change at any time. If there is any question, please check with the track manger, the tower or a track official for clarification. The current IHRA Rule Book mandates specific safety requirements for vehicles participating at all member tracks. Safety requirements specified in the current IHRA Rule Book for a specific class or ET will be in effect during all Hobbs Motorsports Park race events and take precedence over information contained here. Additionally, Hobbs Motorsports Park representatives have the right to disqualify an entry if, in their opinion, the vehicle presents a potential risk for the driver, crew members, other racers, track personnel or spectators. The decision of track officials is final.

DISCLAIMER: The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable safety requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator or official.

DRIVERS CAUGHT DRINKING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR USING ILLEGAL DRUGS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. Fighting, unsportsmanlike conduct, profane language, threatening a track official or other aggressive behavior targeted at any track official, racer or spectator will not be tolerated. Expulsion from the facility and other disciplinary action at the discretion of the track management may result. Each driver is responsible for the actions of their crew members.

Glass containers are not allowed in the pits.

STUTTER BOXES, TRACK LOCATORS (counters) & SIMILAR DEVICES ARE NOT ALLOWED. Use of such devices during any run will result in immediate disqualification and expulsion from the event. Entry fees WILL NOT be refunded.

All installed SFI certified safety equipment must be up to date with current dates and numbers.  Refer to the IHRA rule book for equipment requirements based on your class and ET.  Effective Jan. 1, 2007, where a Snell- or SFI-rated helmet is required in competition, the Snell 95 and SFI 31.1, 31.2, 41.1, and 41.2 helmets will no longer be allowed. Look in the General Regulations section of the 2007 IHRA Rulebook under Helmet and Goggles for expiration dates for all Snell and SFI-tagged helmets.

Report to tech as soon as possible after entering the facility. Basic requirements: Battery hold down, radiator overflow catch can, all lug nuts in place, remove wheel covers (do not race with hub caps or wheel covers in place), no fluids leaking from the vehicle. Refer to track specific safety requirement and the IHRA rule book for your class or ET.

For all IHRA Sportsman and E.T. racers, a functional light must be visible from the rear of the car. This eliminates all reference to night racing only, meaning a light must be functional at all times.

CLEARLY mark your car number and dial-in on the DRIVERS SIDE DOOR glass in 4" to 8" tall numerals before you are called to the starting line. Your dial-in cannot be changed after the entry has left the head of staging. Be sure your dial-in is correct on the dial-in display before you stage. By staging you accept it, right OR wrong, with no dispute or appeal.

Competitors will be called to the staging area BY CLASSES for time trials and elimination rounds. Run order and lane assignment during time trials will be made by the "Stager". Run order and lane assignment will be made by the "DRAWING CARD" method during elimination rounds. To avoid delays between classes, the next class to run may be called to a pre-stage area while the staged class is being run. DRIVERS SHALL REMAIN WITH THEIR VEHICLE AT ALL TIMES AFTER ENTERING THE STAGING LANES AND KEEP VEHICLES TIGHTLY GROUPED.

. Once three bulbs are lit (two pre-stage and one stage), you have 10 seconds to complete the staging procedure..

Loss of ANY fluid may result in disqualification at the discretion of track officials. .

You are disqualified if you "red light" or if you touch or cross the track centerline with any tire. In cases of two (2) infractions on the same run, the "FIRST OR WORSE" rule will be invoked; for example, a vehicle crossing the centerline loses even if this was the second infraction. Centerline violations must be witnessed by a track official.

HARD BRAKING WHICH CAUSES ANY TIRE TO SKID at ANY point during ANY run will result in disqualification at the discretion of the starter.

A "BYE RUN" is when you have no opponent in staging. You can get only one (1) Bye Run in eliminations per race day. It is okay to breakout or red light on a Bye Run, or you can choose to not run through at all. A "COMPETITION BYE" is when your opponent could not pull to the line within the allotted time after being directed to do so by the Stager or Starter. Contestants can get more than one Competition Bye, but only one (1) Bye Run is allowed per race day.

Long pants, shirt, shoes are required for all drivers in all classes, unless a fire suit is required. No shorts allowed in any class period.

When qualifying for a qualified field, you must qualify during scheduled qualifying runs for that event.

You will be allowed ONE burnout across the starting line per round EXCEPT Jr. Dragster, Teen Championship and Street Trophy.

No two drivers may enter the same car in the same class.

One crew member is allowed on the starting line behind the starter per car. Crew member MUST be at least 16 years of age.

Drivers in all classes except Jr. Dragster must have a valid driver's license and be at least 16 years of age.

Speed limit in the pits is 10 MPH. NO vehicle testing of any type. NO BURN OUTS. Bicycles, small motorcycles and 3 & 4 wheelers may be used for transportation in the facility. Persons operating these vehicles must be at least 16 years of age and have a valid driver's license. Improper use of these vehicles may result in expulsion from the facility and forfeiture of entry fees.

No work may be done under any vehicle supported only by a jack.  Additional safety devices such as jack stands are mandatory in order to provide extra safety.  Any vehicle jacked up with it's engine running must have jack stands in place and a licensed driver or rider in the driver's seat.  Jack stands must have a board or other load spreading material underneath. Same with trailer jacks.

Contestant protests must be submitted to the TRACK MANAGER in WRITING a minimum of one hour prior to the start of eliminations.  To file a protest, the filer/competitor must be an owner or driver of a car that is entered in the same eliminator bracket as the car or driver protested.  Protests will be submitted to the TRACK MANAGER before elimination runs have begun.  Protest fees will be submitted with the protest or the protest will not be accepted.  If the TRACK MANAGER feels that time is inadequate to check a car before eliminations begin, then the protested car will run in the eliminator bracket until defeated or it wins the bracket.  As soon as the protested car wins the bracket or is defeated, the car and driver will report immediately to the Track Manager.
Protest fees will be forfeited to the car owner if the protested car is determined to be legal for it's class.  If the protested car is determined to be illegal for the class, the protest fee will be refunded.  Official’s protests may be entered at any time during the event at no charge by the proper officials. The protest fee is $150
